Sustain our Work

"EarthLinks provides such an important service to those most in need. I am inspired by your hard work and dedication. Thank you for walking the walk."

- Barbara Masoner, EarthLinks Donor

Unfortunately, we need to specify and limit the donated items we receive to prevent further overflow.

If you are interested in donating items to us, please complete this form and we'll contact you to coordinate a time!

Please note:

EarthLinks is a non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status, so donations are tax deductible under Federal law. Colorado taxpayers also qualify for the Colorado Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (up to 25% of the gift) for gifts of $250.00 or more.

EarthLinks is transitioning away from Colorado Gives and donations are now made via Neon in order to qualify for the Colorado Homeless Contribution Tax Credit. If you are a recurring donor, you do not need to set up an account to create the donation; however, if you would like to update your recurring donation you must make an account.

Donate Your Refund
If you are expecting a state income tax refund, you can donate some or all of it to EarthLinks with ReFUND CO – an incredible program that helps you give back.

Donating some or all of your refund to EarthLinks is an easy way to support our mission and give back to the local community. Whether you do your taxes yourself or use a tax preparer, RefundWhatMatters.org provides simple instructions for how to make sure your refund donation goes to your chosen nonprofit.

This new program by the ReFUND CO initiative puts you in charge of where your donation goes. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Decide how much of your refund to donate.

  2. Enter EarthLinks Inc. and our registration number 20023003516 in the Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund line on your state income tax return or tax software – or just give this info to your tax preparer when you share your tax documents.

  3. Smile knowing you’ve helped a cause that matters to you!

Because our work is never done, we’re always in need of new funds to revitalize our organization and recharge our work. ReFUND CO shows you how you can support our mission at a critical time of the year. As always, we’re grateful for your past support and hope you’ll consider donating again through this new program to maintain our mission.

FAQ's

What can I donate?

You can donate most any vehicle, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles. They do not have to be currently running. Your vehicle donation will be sold at an auction or to salvage depending on condition.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, EarthLinks is a non-profit organization and all donations qualify as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax return.

What do I need to donate my car?

The title to the car must be in your name. We will also need some information about where the car is located and the condition of the car. This will assist us in scheduling appropriate towing arrangements.

Will you pick up my car?

A towing company will call you to schedule the pick-up of your vehicle. You will need to give the driver the keys to the vehicle as well as your signed title.

How is the value of my car determined?

The IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax form equal to the amount the vehicle sells for at auction unless it sells for less than $500. If your vehicle sells for less than $500 you may deduct no more than $500. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you will need to include the IRS form 1098C. Vehicles for Charity will supply this documentation after your vehicle sells. We recommend you consult your tax advisor with questions about your deduction.

EarthLinks has partnered with Vehicles For Charity to process donated vehicles. Just call 1-866-628-2277 they will answer any other questions you may have and make arrangements to pick up your donation.

GIVE FROM YOUR IRA

Give from your IRA!

other IRA.png

What does it mean to give from my IRA?

Giving from your IRA, Individual Retirement Account, is a way to donate that will lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. It is called an IRA charitable rollover, or a Qualfiied Charitable Distribution (QCD).

What are the benefits of giving from my IRA?

  • Since the transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, you avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000, even if you do not itemize your deductions.

  • The transfer can satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year.

  • The gift does not count as income, so it can reduce your annual taxable income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.

  • Give today, see the difference tomorrow! Your gift will be put into use today, allowing you to see how your donation is making a difference!
